Question #1:
What is a polite way to say "NO KIDS" at a party?
A friend of mine and I are having trouble trying to word her wedding reception invitations. She is having a post wedding reception and plans to have it in the form of a semi-formal cocktail party. She does not want her guest's kids to attend although she will have her 7 year old son there. What is the most polite way to get across that she doesn't want kids there?Do you think people will be offending when they see her child there?
Okay after reading the responses here I have to say, "Her son has every right to be there celebrating a special moment of his familys life." The guest's kids are not her child and this is her party. I feel that if her fiance' and her are shelling out 10 grand at the least for this event then her son has every right to share this with her.
Why should she be responsible for other peoples kids when she is treating them already?
Question #2:
Would this dress be ok for a formal wedding?
Click HereHere's the deal, the bride for this wedding was my bridesmaid-zilla. I am not super-skinny (I'm around a size 16), I have a very large tattoo on my upper right arm and I would prefer to keep it covered for this wedding so the bride doesn't flip out on me (I do think she would). I'm not ancient, but I am in my 30's and am very busty so strapless, halter or low-backed dresses are not something I care to wear.
Wedding is New Years Eve and bride has said it is "extremely formal" but has said to wear what I look good in and that floor-length or cocktail length is fine. My husband (bride's brother) is wearing a tux & walking her down the aisle. I've been leaning towards a floor length dress, but this one caught my eye and I was wondering if I could get away with it.
what do you think?

Question #5:
What's your opinion on this dress? I have a semi-formal cocktail party to go to?
And I'm also 5 months pregnant with a very obvious baby bump, can you imagine this dress on a pregnant woman?Click Here
I've actually never been to a function like this and I want to look very nice for my husband, it's their Semi-Formal Send-Off Cocktail Party, they're gonna be deploying and they're having this nice get together for everyone. Just because I'm a stay at home mom to a 19 month old and I'm 5 months pregnant doesn't mean I can't look smoking hot for my husband right ladies??
Yes my husband still gets to be home for the birth, he'll be on rear detachment and then he'll deploy 10 days after I have my baby.
I ended up not liking to dress so I'm so glad I went to try it on and I didn't just buy it online. It was actually totally see through and covered in gold glitter that was totally flaking off, I ended up buy a totally different one :)
Question #6:
Why is a Mosque "Not Welcome" In Tennessee???
A suspicious fire that damaged construction equipment at the site of a future mosque in Tennessee has some local Muslims worried that their project has been dragged into the national debate surrounding Manhattan's ground zero.Authorities told leaders of the Islamic Center of Murfreesboro that four pieces of heavy construction equipment on the site were doused with an accelerant and one set ablaze early Saturday morning. The site is now being patrolled at all hours by the sheriff's department.
Federal investigators have not ruled it arson, saying only that the fire was being probed and asked the public to call in tips. Eric Kehn, spokesman for the Nashville office of the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, said arson is suspected.
The site has already seen vandalism, said Joel Siskovic, a spokesman for the FBI in the Memphis office. A sign at the site was spray-painted with the words "Not Welcome" and then torn in half. The FBI is investigating the fire in case it is a civil rights violation.
"We want to make sure there are not people acting with the intent to prevent people from exercising their First Amendment rights," Siskovic said.
Essam Fathy, chairman of the planning committee for the mosque, said he has lived in the city about 25 miles southeast of Nashville for almost 30 years and has never run into problems with his faith until now. He's concerned that outsiders could be involved.
"I don't think this is coming out of Murfreesboro," he said. "There were no issues at any time, even after 9/11, there were no issues. It just seems like there's a movement in the United States against Islam."
The debate in New York over a proposed Islamic community center and mosque two blocks away from ground zero has pitted advocates for religious freedom, including New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and President Barack Obama, against opponents who think it is insensitive to the victims of the terror attacks.
Tennessee Gov. Phil Bredesen, a Democrat, weighed in on the project for the first time on Monday.
"I guess I would ask everybody to remember that this is a country whose deepest origins are in religious freedom — it was founded by people who escaped to it to practice their religions — and to ask people to please have great respect for anyone's religious preferences and their rights to practice those in the United States. I think it goes right to the heart of what this country is about."
Supporters of the Tennessee mosque and some leaders in other faiths hope the fire could be a wake-up call to support religious freedom.
Two years ago, several men broke into the Islamic Center of Columbia, about 30 miles southwest of Murfreesboro, and torched it with molotov cocktails, stealing a stereo system and painting swastikas and "White Power" on the front of the building.
Some opponents of the mosque said they were concerned about how the project went through the city planning process and increased traffic. But many of the opponents at a recent rally expressed a fear that Muslims want to overthrow the government and bring Islamic law to the U.S.

Do I have a high tolerance to alcohol?

Does this sound Dull to you? People are saying it is.?
I am getting married in June 2011. From the start my FH and I have been planning what we were viewing as a Classy, Traditional wedding. Now people are saying that it may be to boring and dull and people will think we were lazy. Does this sound boring, dull, and lazy to you?Colors: Black and White with subtle touches of dark pink.
Bridal party: 4BM 1 MOH, 4GM, 1 Best Man: Girls in simple black dresses men in traditional tuxes.
Dress: Traditional White, with modest detail, strapless, comb veil, Black sash
Ceremony: Traditional Methodist; Pew Bow, 2 readers, father giving me away, classical music.
Pictures: Regular church photos, with a couple shots in a nearby park. (No trash the dress)
Reception: 3 hour Wine and Beer bar with a signature cocktail; At an upscale hotel/restaurant; Dj playing music that is recognizable across all generations present.
Food: Buffet Style (Only because we have had their buffets before) With seasonal favorites.
Centerpieces: low wide bowls with floating hydrangeas, with votive candles surrounding.
About the 2 least traditional things we have are cupcakes instead of a traditional cake and my FMIL is making doilies in the dark pink that we are using for under the centerpieces.
I know that parts of this are VERY traditional but does that make it dull or lazy? Our finished product of the ballroom is going to look very welcoming and classy which is what we wanted. Would any of you be put off by a wedding like this?
The worries stem probably from some underlying esteem issues I have. But luckily it is something I am working through! 2 years ago I would have broken down had someone told me my wedding was going to be boring and dull. Now I just question it a little!
Thanks EVERYONE! We wanted simple, classy, and traditional! And we are achieving it WELL within our budget! We even may come in around $1000 under!

When thou buildest a new house, then thou shalt make a battlement for thy roof, that thou bring not blood upon thine house, if any man fall from thence.

Question #18:
How can I stop my own sister from using and taking advantage of me?
I am no "miss money bags" but I have learned not to lend her money because when it comes to me she'll never pay it back. I have to declare bankruptcy now and what led to this was loaning her money so that her kids can go to a private school outside of her awful community which has a poor school district. She was supposed to pay me back after she got back her tax return and simply told me that she cannot. Last week we went out for dinner and cocktails and she "forgot to get cash" and promised to stop at an atm and pay me back on the way home. It never happened. She took a great paying night job and committed me to watching her kids at night 6 nights a week before even asking. Now she brings them to my home every night and refuses to change her shift. This has gone too far. I love my sister, but how can I put an end to all of this using. It's atrocious!!Question #19:

Question #20:
Can I drink more than 1 alcoholic beverage a day without any health risks?
I know that drinking a lot can cause health problems. Heart problems, liver problems, skin problems, increased risk of cancer, obesity due to the excess calories found in alcohol. I know that these health problems can be eliminated if alcohol use is stopped or taken in moderation but no matter what site I go on it says moderate drinking is one drink per day if female (which I am) and that is a can of beer, a shot glass of hard liquor, a small mixed cocktail with only 1 ounce of liquor or five ounces of wine but I think these moderate amounts are too strict since I drink wine and one five ounce glass a day is hardly worth it cause that's not fun to me and I prefer more so what if I eliminate drinking during weekdays and do it as much as I want during the weekends but go dry the rest of the time will I still get health problems or is it safer? Will my liver be healthier if I give it almost a full week off booze every week but then do it on weekends as much as I want? I am not so familiar about this all people tell me is that the only prevention to alcohol induced diseases (ie, alcoholic liver disease, chirrosis of the liver over time) is to either use alcohol in moderation (which I assume they are talking about 1 drink per day for females) or not at all but I am not willing to stick to a five ounce glass a day cause it isn't enough to satisfy me instead I am thinking is if I leave my liver alone during the week but drink as much as I want during weekends it'll be healthier since I don't do it every day and give it time to recover am I right??** Powered by Yahoo Answers
